Bangladeshi singer Suchona Shely has secured second place at the international folk music festival Rukh Sanat, held in Kyrgyzstan. The competition featured 82 artists and bands from 14 countries, including Bangladesh.
Representing her band Divya Gyani, Shely showcased the rich heritage of Bangladeshi folk music to an international audience. Her renditions of timeless songs by mystic bards Fakir Lalon Shah and Hason Raja captivated both the judges and the audience.

Reflecting on her achievement, Shely said, “Singing the works of Lalon and Hason Raja on this stage, and receiving the love of people from across the world, is one of the greatest honours of my life. I dedicate this achievement to the people of Bangladesh and to every member of my band, Divya Gyani.”
Shely began her musical journey under the guidance of her father, Abdul Jalil Sardar. Over the years, she has lent her voice as a playback singer in numerous films in both Bangladesh and Kolkata.
