Michael Jackson biopic postponed once more

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and penned by screenwriter John Logan, the film stars Jaafar Jackson in the lead role, portraying his legendary uncle.

Lionsgate is responsible for distribution within the United States, while Universal Pictures will manage the international release. Kino Films will distribute the movie in Japan.

With a production budget of $155 million, the biographical drama is produced by Oscar-winning producer Graham King, known for The Departed. The film promises an in-depth portrayal of Jackson’s personal life and his rise to global stardom as the King of Pop.

The ensemble cast features Colman Domingo and Nia Long as Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. Miles Teller appears as attorney John Branca, and Larenz Tate takes on the role of Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records. The film will also include depictions of influential figures such as Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, and La Toya Jackson.
